Hello everyone,
It feels like it’s been too long since the last early birds breakfast. During the last one, I for one thought that we’d only have one virtual breakfast before getting back to normal. Unfortunately this is not the case. I think the biggest struggle I’ve been facing over the last couple months is how to stay motivated. I am confident that I’ve been accomplishing my deliverables at work, but I definitely think I could be pushing harder. I certainly want the flexibility and option to work from home in the future, however I don’t think I will exercise that privilege unless I needed to. My most recent source of motivation has been ‘The Last Dance’ on Netflix. As you all have heard before, I tend to look towards sports for motivation very often. Something about the competition, resilience and discipline really does it for me.
How do you stay motivated in uncertain times? Do you have formal or informal mentors in the workplace? Have you been continuing virtual mentorship sessions? How have your habits changed over the past couple months? Who are you looking to for motivation in these trying times? Do you have any historical figures/events that you think of as parallel times for now?
Homework: I’d ask that everyone come prepared with 1 historical figure, and 1 historical event (don’t have to be related) that they have been seeking motivation from over the past few months.
Stay well,
